Kotobukiya have announced an all new kit from their Armored Core Verdict Day range, that of the massive tank AC the Matsukaze mdl.2. Released in August it will cost around 18,8000 yen. That’s a lot for a kit but it’s really bloody massive. The only catch is that this appears to be an online shop only purchase, which is a shame. The other slightly odd thing is that this actually looks a lot like the tank AC seen in the original intro for Armored Core V, so we’re a bit stumped as to why it is included in the Verdict Day range. In any case it’s nice to see Kotobukiya supporting the Armored Core series with more kits, they always do a fine job.
Update: It looks like the kit won’t be a webshop exclusive after all, you can pre-order it here.
And now Kotobukiya has been seduced into P Bandai esque practices. Great.
Nice, looks they brokered a deal with Kotobukiya. Good on them!
And AmiAmi and Hobby Search. It’s not online exclusive but it isn’t worth over a hundred dollars.
Amazon too, this is weird. All prior Kotobukiya web shop releases were exclusives. Glad this isn’t. It’s also a massive kit so I get the price hike.
The tank legs are long but the White Glint+VOB is an even bigger kit yet retails for 90 dollars. For nearly 200 MSRP you would expect something a little more than rubber treads and a seemingly hollow tank section. I guess they realized that too and tried to sweeten the deal with the extra parts.
The earlier VI kits are simpler than the ACV branch I’ve found. The newer designs for one are more complex on the whole. That’s generally why the ACV kits cost more than the earlier ones. Considering that the Blue Magnolia kit cost nearly 8,000 yen and is less than half the size of this tank, the tank’s price isn’t out of whack really.
I have a Kotobukiya ACFA model, the details of the kit are amazing. For 1/75 scale it looks really big sometimes. Not a fan of V series, but I hope they contiue with the ACFA line… I’m drying for a bigger version of the Vanguard overboost.
HLJ has it for pre order.
