Kits: Perfect Grade Strike Freedom Released

One of the largest Perfect Grade kits has finally been released, that of the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom Gundam from Gundam SEED Destiny. Coming in at a whopping 26,250 yen, like the other Perfect Grades it’s hardly very affordable. However, this price tag isn’t without reason; as the sheer engineering involved in the manufacturing of these plamodel beasts is suitably epic. Unsurprisingly, this mobile suit has been in numerous games over the years and the upcoming Gundam Musou 3 will also feature the mecha. As with almost all Bandai Gundam kits, Hajime Katoki has a hand in the sculpt and engineering. This can sometimes cause issues with the sculpt on certain designs (original design here), as he has a habit of somewhat standardising them. The Strike Freedom seems to be mostly okay on this front though. In any case, you can buy this impressive kit over at HLJ and they’re even holding a Perfect Grade sale too.

Following on from the announcement recently, 4Gamer have some nice coverage of the upcoming Artdink developed Macross Triangle Frontier on PSP. Again, we’re pretty much spooging over the fact that Macross II is getting a campaign and that we get to play with a VF-2SS Valkyrie II again.

Famitsu have got the scoop that another Artdink developed Macross game is on its way to the PSP. Entitled Macross Triangle Frontier it will follow on from the last game, Macross Ultimate Frontier. This game also looks to have a more fleshed out Macross II campaign as well as a new Academy mode (the latter will be a bit like a stripped down dating sim). Though we’re most excited by the addition of the EX-Gears from Macross Frontier (pictured above). In addition, the game will also have a separate bundle pack with a UMD movie of the recent Macross Frontier movie, The False Songstress. For those wondering what’s happened to the full blown PS3 game in the wake of Macross Trial Frontier, no news on that as yet. Though this PSP game will pre-date the release of the second Frontier movie and it’s likely that Bandai will try and sync the PS3 game with the Blu-Ray/DVD release in the latter half of 2011. In anycase, this PSP game is set for a February 3rd 2011 release in Japan.

News: Another Century’s Episode Portable Missions Update

The upcoming Another Century’s Episode Portable received some new coverage over at 4Gamer that goes into a fair bit of detail on the new sub-mission objectives, secret units and multi-zone fields. The latter splits missions up into areas, which means in multiplayer different players can deal with these different zones independently. To take an area you need to obliterate it’s defending forces, this is a continuation from the field setup seen in ACE3. Some missions will also have secret units appear once certain criteria are met, defeating these will award the player with more ACE points for upgrading units. The sub-mission objectives are additional but optional objectives that can also award the player more ACE points. Finally, the official site was updated with information on new playable units. Amongst these was the 00 Raiser, which adds to the Exia in terms of the Gundam 00 line-up. Considering the unit is notoriously uber it will be interesting to see how it will be handled. The game is still on track for a 13th January 2011 release and you can pre-order it here.

News: Another Century’s Episode Portable Customisation Setup

Following on from the recently released trailer, 4Gamer have done a good breakdown of Another Century’s Episode Portable’s new customisation setup. To not mislead anyone, this customisation is by no means like something akin to Armored Core let’s say, instead it’s more of an extended version of the module setup seen in the previous games. Whilst modules were something that could be used mid-mission, such as replenishing health, the new weapon panels will have a more combat orientated and immediate focus (rather than tucked away in the pause menu). In that, you can now equip new and custom weapon panels that give units a new ability. These are also built from Chips that can be combined in various configurations. All of these are unlocked by defeating enemies in missions. Each unit also has a Capacity limitation in terms of the panels that can be equipped, this can be increased by upgrading the unit’s parameters with ACE points (the latter being a staple from the previous ACE games). In any case, all this sounds pretty interesting and we’re curious to see how all this will work in game.

The upcoming Another Century’s Episode Portable has finally had its first trailer released. Despite the somewhat typical grand tour of the game’s menu system, the rest of the trailer shows actual in-game footage. The latter is potentially quite reassuring as it at least appears that the new PSP game is returning to how the awesome PS2 games operated. Especially when it came to boosting and how that interlinked with the combat. After the disappointing ACE:R, we’re now actually hopeful that the PSP game will be pretty decent. The game is released January 13th next year for 6,279 yen and you can pre-order it here.

With the upcoming Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity around the corner, SEGA have teamed up with Studio Gainax to package costumes from both Gurren Lagann and Evangelion. In terms of the latter, players will not only be able to wear the plug suits seen in the series and movies but also wield a human sized Lance of Longinus. However, the coolest addition has to be the Gurren Lagann “suit” that male characters will be able to wear (along with a Giga Drill and Gurren Boomerang). Whilst the Evangelion tie-up is by no means a new one, the Gurren Lagann one is. In any case, the game will be piercing the heavens (as in released) on November 24th for 5,040 yen.

As we suspected the White Dingo variant of the GM Sniper II is now available for pre-order as a Tamashii Web special purchase. Fear ye not though, as places like Tokyo Hunter are stocking the toy on your behalf (as Tamashii Web specials are Japan only purchases unfortunately). Considering how much we loved the recent GM Sniper II toy, we literally cannot wait for the White Dingo version as the Dreamcast game that birthed it is very close to our heart.

Well, Artdink’s wondrous new Carnage Heart EXA has finally been released. Whilst we’ll be getting a copy we may abstain from a review, on account of the somewhat epic language barrier. That said, if people want a review then by all means say so (as we’d be happy to oblige). To commemorate the release 4Gamer have done a pretty epic breakdown of the game. Don’t forget that you can still also order the boxed version here, though we are cautiously hopeful that a Western publisher may pick up EXA for a digital release.

It seems that Artdink have finally decided to release Carnage Heart EXA online via the PlayStation Store. This doesn’t preclude the boxed version of the game though, as that will also come packaged with the game’s soundtrack. This download version, minus the soundtrack obviously, is also a fair bit cheaper than the boxed variant too; coming in at a very reasonable 4,700 yen (1,100 yen cheaper than the boxed copy). Both versions of the game will be released October 28th and there’s still no word on a Western release as yet.
