Following on from a suitably thorough mission update, the official Gundam Extreme Versus site now holds host to some new trailers. From the full TGS promo video to a new snappy sneak peak at the new aforementioned missions in action. It’s all looking brilliant and we’re just itching to finally play this at home (with one of these in case you’re wondering). Considering that Bandai Namco are raking in around half a billion dollars a year on the Gundam franchise and expect this PS3 port to sell over half a million units (in Japan), this is going to be a pretty big deal come its release at the beginning of December. In the latest pages of Famitsu, the wondrous Hi-Nu Gundam has been finally previewed for Gundam Extreme Versus. This is also the version as “seen” in Beltorchika’s Children and not the more recent Gunpla Builders edition. Following on from that, Bandai Namco have been to keen to highlight the fact that mission DLC will be available free on PSN shortly after the game’s launch. This is an interesting and pretty refreshing move, though its likely that the inevitable mobile suit DLC will be charged.

Following on from Macross Trial Frontier, Artdink have produced a new mini-game, entitled Macross Last Frontier, as part of the Sayonara no Tsubasa BluRay hybrid pack. Unlike the first entry, this one is more substantial and features a save system now. The latter is a byproduct of the fact the game is more than just a few missions. What follows is our hands-on impressions with the new game.

The latest Blu-Ray release of Macross Frontier Sayonara no Tsubasa, which also comes packaged with a PS3 game called Macross Last Frontier (made by the same team behind the awesome PSP games), has topped the Japanese charts by selling 142,607 copies in its first week of sale. After the first hybrid pack, which we covered on its release, this new version has more of a complete game with a proper save system. It’s clear that there may be some more standalone Macross games on the way for the PS3 too, especially considering the strong response in sales for this recent effort. We’ll also be reviewing this latest hybrid pack shortly as well, so keep an eye out for that.

A few days ago we tweeted that the Hi-Nu Gundam might be included in the upcoming PS3 port of Gundam Extreme Versus. Well in a new update over at Famitsu it seems that this unlockable will in fact be a pre-order bonus. Whilst it’s still not been openly stated that the silhouette is the Hi-Nu Gundam, it’s pretty obvious that it will be that mobile suit as it was recently featured in Another Century’s Episode R among other things (so Bandai obviously have access to at least a current high poly model). However, whether it will be the original Hi-Nu blue and white colouring from Beltorchika’s Children or the newer version seen in Gunpla Builders remains to be seen.

As we mentioned a while back, Shoji Kawamori had been hired to design a new plane for Ace Combat Assault Horizon. Well, 4Gamer now has a piece on the plane and has a fair few nice shots of it in game. Now called the ASF-X, the DLC will be available on the 26th October for either 960 yen (PSN) or 640 MSP (XBLA). As we said previously, this plane doesn’t transform into anything (unfortunately). For those that have played the game, then this DLC will be somewhat of a futile gesture. Whilst it has sold initially well, the reaction by gamers has been pretty scathing. Much of this ire is aimed at the DFM mode that effectively removes any form of skill from the game and instead tries to appeal to supposed “humans” that have the cognitive capacity of a brain damaged newt. At least Kawamori’s plane looks pretty cool, which is at least something I suppose.

After a good few years of, well, nothing about the much anticipated MechWarrior reboot (courtesy of Piranha Games) it appears that the game hasn’t died after all. From the somewhat oddly emphatic tweet from Bryan Ekman that there has been “no legal battle” over the usage of the Unseen designs to the slightly cringe-worthy viral twitter feed for the game itself. Either way, we’re just happy the game is still being made and that maybe one day we’ll get to play it.

In a new update over at 4Gamer, they’ve gone into more detail about the Trial Mission setup in the upcoming PS3 port of Gundam Extreme Versus. From the addition of battleships that will now fly through the environment dispensing mega particle love, there will also be some new mobile armors included too. With the MA-05Ad Big Rang being a somewhat odd choice. Interestingly, you can also destroy the battleships too. To make these new missions more interesting the game will also feature increased amounts of cannon fodder, whilst not at Gundam Musou levels of enemies it does look more than the average battle in the Gundam Versus series. Considering how close we are to release now, as the game’s out at the beginning of December, we can’t wait to finally get our hands on this.

The official Armored Core V site has been updated with a new section on the recently announced order matches for the singleplayer as well as a slew of very sexy new screenshots. To clarify on how awesome the singleplayer is looking for the game, check out some Gamescom footage (in HD no less) below.

4Gamer has a follow on piece for Armored Core V regarding the reveal of the Moonlight and Karasawa. It seems that the huge MT-esque enemy “TypeD No.5” (shown above) will be part of an extra mission framework. Where four players, minus an operator, will square off against particularly difficult enemies. The update also shows some new areas as well as various turret types used for territory defense.

Updated: Famitsu has also a pretty nifty update about the game’s Order Matches.
