There’s a nice update over at 4Gamer for the forthcoming Gundam Unicorn game. Whilst the information and shots are pretty much the same as those shown at Famitsu originally, these are now at HD resolution so you can really see the detail. Though this piece does talk more about the weight of the mobile suits and that they’ll feel “heavy”. Still no word on a price or specific release date as yet, bar sometime next year. We still really want to see some game footage before we get too excited though.

The first set of DLC for Gundam Extreme Versus has been fully revealed finally. Apart from the GNW-20000 Arche Gundam, which we already new about, we also now have the RX-79BD-1 GM Blue Destiny Unit 1 and its beastly EXAM system in full effect. The latter is probably one of the greater gaming heirlooms in terms of the Gundam mythos, as the Blue Destiny Trilogy on the Saturn was truly wonderful. In addition to the mobile suits, priced at 500 yen each, there will be 8 additional trial missions available for free. All of this DLC will be released on December 22nd.

Following on from the summary breakdown, there’s now a singleplayer video for Armored Core V over at From Software’s YouTube channel, as well as another live recording from Frequency (suitably Armored Core V themed to boot). There’s only one more video breakdown to go before the end of December.

Along with the free DLC in the form of various new Trial Missions, some mobile suits have also been revealed for the PS3 port of Gundam Extreme Versus. Whilst Bandai Namco have attempted to hide the mobile suits in silhouette, it’s not a particularly good tactic. If only for the fact that they are pretty much obviously recognizable. From left to right we have the ZMT-S33S Gottrlatan, GNW-20000 Arche Gundam, PMX-003 The O and ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam. There’s no word on whether these will also be free, though this is unlikely. The date listed is December 22nd for their release but these will also been seen as enemies in matches too apparently. If you haven’t bought the game already, you can do so here. Following on from the team breakdown, there’s now a game summary (or “sammary”) video for Armored Core V over at From Software’s YouTube channel. This covers the campaign setup in some detail but, again, nothing that we don’t already know. There are two more breakdown moves planned by the end of December.

What with the veritable clusterfuck of gaming releases over the past few months, Armored Core V has wisely kept quiet so as to wait for a gap in the PR orgy. So From Software have opted to start showing informed videos on their YouTube channel, that are linked off the official site. 4Gamer picked up the first of these about the game’s team play setup. It doesn’t really go into too much we don’t already know, but it does collate most of the relevant information into a quick coherent package. There will be follow up videos throughout December as well, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for those too.

Now with Gundam Extreme Versus a little over two weeks from release, the PR machine has gone into NT-D mode. Below is a lovely shiny new TV advert for the game. Whilst it shows snippets of fresh footage, it doesn’t really reveal anything earth shattering (but it is in HD). Plus, it also gives us an excuse to show the Hi-Nu Gundam yet again, though this time violating a Geara Doga. If you haven’t pre-ordered the game already, then you really need to do so here.

We first saw threeA‘s gorgeous looking Metal Gear Rex exactly two years ago today. But virtually nothing been said or seen ever since. To the point that those who still remember it have naturally assumed that the statue was quietly cancelled. Then earlier this year, threeA passed along a blog post of what looked to be a rail gun, one similar to what Rex was sporting, but which also lights up. A feature that no one knew about, at least based upon the prototype pics.

No further information was given, but at least it was evidence that Rex was still alive. And just a few days ago, another update was provided, with concrete info at long last. Aside from looking better than ever, we can also see that the cockpit and its “eyes” also lights up. A timeframe in which all interested parties was also given: this upcoming January. No word how much it will weigh, but it sure looks heavy, especially since we do know its height: 42 cm, or 16.5 inches.

And according to Ashley Wood, who is not only Hideo Kokjima’s go to illustrator for all things Metal Gear these days (aside from Yoji Shinkawa, of course), but is one of folks who runs the threeA empire: because every part is ABS and requires injection molds, the price tag will be steep. It’s also worth noting that he still considers Rex a toy and simply a statue, which given its size and cost is what most of us were viewing it as. The rumoured price is somewhere between $400-500.

It’s been reported that From Software are around 70% through production on a PS3 exclusive Gundam Unicorn game. Set for release sometime in spring next year, the game apparently has supremely detailed mobile suit models (to the extent that the Sunrise representatives were apparently blinded by their sheer majesty) as well as a large emphasis on using the voice talent from the series with each of the main characters receiving their own chapter. In addition the game will only cover the first three episodes of the animated series, which begs the question as to whether there will be enough content. In terms of actual gameplay there are references to ACE but not which ones specifically, as the newer PS3 entry really wasn’t that great. To be honest, we’re on the fence with this one. As From Software’s ACE series has taken a bit of a functional nosedive and, despite the supposed aesthetic wonders present here, if it plays like manky balls we’ll have yet another Gundam game that will prop up the false meme that they’re all crap.

Over at Game Watch they’ve got an update that says, as of today, the classic Super Robot Wars F and F Final will be added to the (Japanese) PSN game archives for 1,200 yen each. These were some of the toughest and most rewarding of the Winkysoft era games, so to see them in the wild again brings warmth to our cold robotic hearts. As with most PSN archive games, these are playable on both your PS3 and PSP.
