Over at 4Gamer they have details on various versions of the forthcoming E.X. Troopers. From the standard to the limited editions of the game, with the latter coming with a lovely figure of Tikki. What’s also very interesting is that the game will be released simultaneously on both the 3DS and PS3. Bar that, there’s also a lovely new anime trailer as made by those special people at Satelight and the song you can hear is also performed by May’n. The full trailer is shown below and as always it only makes us want the game that much more.

Toys: Riobot Blodia revealed at Wonder Festival

At this summer’s Wonder Festival, Sentinel have definitely revealed something rather cool in their increasingly awesome Riobot toyline. That of the mighty Blodia (pictured above) from the classic arcade game, Cyberbots. The mecha was also featured in the Cyberbots sequel Kikaioh as well, though as a slightly pimped up unlockable. If that wasn’t enough, Kotobukiya are also apparently releasing a kit of Metal Gear Rex as well. Though, Sentinel still steal the show for us as the recent reveal that the exquisitely designed Tsugumori from the Knights of Sidonia manga (by the simply brilliant Tsutomu Nihei) will be also getting the Riobot treatment. If you want to peruse the rest of the Wonder Festival coverage, then have a look here and here.

Following on from our previous Revoltech Jehuty and Revoltech Jehuty (Anubis Version) reviews, our good friends at HobbyLink Japan have sent us the Revoltech Jehuty with Vector Cannon. This being the special super weapon of sorts that Jehuty acquires towards the end of Anubis. Due to the fact it already uses the base Jehuty figure, we’ve only covered the new Vector Cannon elements. In addition, we’ve also included some game footage at the end of the review.

There’s a new update for the progressively lovely E.X. Troopers, covering the main Frontier Base it predominantly features less of the snowy environments and more of the greener wildlife. It also shows the new AI character in context. There’s also mention of a pretty moe-tastic figure of Tee Kee that will be available at the forthcoming Wonder Festival. We really love the look of this game and are seriously interested in getting to finally play it too.

The official site for the forthcoming E.X. Troopers has been updated with some new screenshots (with one shown above) and details on two new characters. The first is W.I.Z. Alpha, an information based AI that helps the player with the demeanor of an older sister, and the second is Diana a teacher at the academy. As always, the more we see of this the game the more we want to play it.

Update: Famitsu has some new screenshots too.

Over at AmiAmi they have a lovely preview of the soon to be released Revoltech Jehuty with Vector Cannon. What’s especially interesting is that there is a nifty mechanism for dropping down the Vector Cannon into firing mode (as shown here). To be honest we were thinking of passing this one by, as we’ve already covered the last two Revoltech Jehuty toys but this looks too cool to pass by. The toy is released on the 15th July for 4,980 yen.

Toys: UCR-10/A and Grind Blade

Courtesy of our good friends at HobbyLink Japan we’ve been sent both the Super Robot Chogokin UCR-10/A and Grind Blade from the rather excellent game, Armored Core V. In terms of the series, Armored Core has always had pretty sub-standard toys and only recently, thanks to Kotobukiya, have we had any decent kits. That said, this new toy changes all that for the better. As always, we’ve made sure to include footage of the design in action at the end of the review.

There’s a new update over at 4Gamer for the forthcoming Eureka Seven AO BluRay Hybrid disc. Showing more elements of the game in action (as seen above), it reminds us more of the sadly rather lacklustre PS2 games made by Bandai. No word on what developer is handling this but it could be in-house. In any case, we are still pretty excited about the fact that both the Nirvash type Zero and Nirvash type the END will be playable from the original Eureka Seven. The hybrid disc will be released on September 20th.

News: Gundam Battle Operation reaches 300,000 downloads

Since the game’s release last Thursday, Gundam Battle Operation has already amassed 300,000 downloads. It’s worth understanding that this isn’t the same thing as sales but it’s not bad going. To commemorate this, Bandai Namco have offered some free energy (as in play tokens) via their site, sadly it only allows Japanese mobile phone e-mail addresses to be entered.

After playing it a fair bit though, we think the game is wholly awful. From the mobile suit handling to the truly appalling framerate, it all harks back to Target in Sight. We’re not alone in our scathing appraisal of the game either. We’ve not experienced any lag however, which some people have reported. For those few that are enjoying this though; would you still enjoy it as much if it had cost you the same as another boxed game?

Videos: E.X. Troopers Promo and Story Update

A new promo for E.X. Troopers has been uploaded. Whilst it shows some more gameplay and characters, it still lacks a HUD so we’re not sure how much of the “game” we’re actually seeing. That said, if the boosting setup shown in the video is in any way present in the final game then we’re completely sold. It harks back to the rather glorious, if a little unwieldy (initially at least) Gunvalkyrie. Anyway, the other big news is that Dai Sato will be penning the scenario for the game. This is a pretty big deal, as Sato is responsible for some of the most lucid and eloquent scripts ever seen in anime. There will also be a promotional anime made by Satelight (Kawamori’s studio) too. Following on from that it also seems the game will feature co-op, but after Monster Hunter who’s really surprised about that? Especially in Capcom game where you fight giant monsters. Anyway, the more we hear about this game the more we want it. The new promo is shown below.
