News: Super Robot Wars OG Infinite Battle Unit and Gameplay Update

Over at 4Gamer they have a new piece on Super Robot Wars OG Infinite Battle, specifically regarding new units and gameplay details. In terms of the latter, it seems that the game will support 3v3 battles (as shown above). This is an interesting choice, especially as 2v2 is already quite difficult to manage in an arcade based situation. That aside, it also looks like we’ll be getting to play with R-2 Powered. This is something we’re quite happy about. Don’t forget that you can still pre-order the game here.

We now finally have a promo for the upcoming Shin Gundam Musou. This shows off both official and ultimate modes as well as what appears to be playable mobile armors (the latter being somewhat comical). Unlike previous entries in the Gundam Musou series this will not have a 360 release. This is hardly surprising as 360 sales in Japan are pretty much non-existent. The game will be released on both PS3 and Vita on the 19th December. Don’t forget you can pre-order both versions here (PS3) and here (Vita).

Over at 4Gamer they have a nice piece showing off a variety of units in the forthcoming Super Robot Wars OG Infinite Battle. These are all noteworthy units, with mecha like the Valsione (above) appealing to the more classic Original Generation fanbase. We’re hoping that the Raioh from Alpha 3 will make an appearance too, as that’s one of our favourite Original Generations mecha. Apart from that, the game is still looking pretty bland but hopefully it won’t matter so much once we get to play it come its release this November. Don’t forget that you can still pre-order the game here.

News: Armored Core Verdict Day Regioning Update

Following on from this post, we now know that the EU and US 360 versions of Armored Core Verdict Day are indeed region free and share the same server. However, the Japanese 360 version is region locked and is on a separate server. Both PS3 versions are region free, like pretty much every PS3 game, but again the Japanese release is on a separate server, with the EU and US games again sharing one server. The reason for this, we’re guessing, is that Bandai Namco publish the game outside of Japan with From Software handling that region directly. So the releases are handled by separate publishers and consequently locked out from one another.

Separately, for those that have been following the game’s release it’s also clear that Bandai Namco are up to something pretty dodgy. As the game has had no marketing whatsoever, with no-one knowing the game is even out. The release window, being so close to Grand Theft Auto V, also seems a bit strange too as it would be obvious to any marketing department that you’d steer clear of that. Otherwise your game will just get buried. This has begged the question as to whether Bandai Namco are trying to kill the series off entirely. The latter wouldn’t be overly surprising as they’re clearly only really interested in Dark Souls at this point.

Anyway, we’ve already finished the campaign and been playing the game online a fair bit and our review will be forthcoming hopefully this week. In the meantime, you can read a decent review of the game here. There are also some nice new trailers out too, so have a look at them below.

Update: The international ACVD Link is now up.

As we previously covered, Bandai are finally releasing a Robot Damashii Hi-Nu Gundam. We now know that it will cost a very reasonable 5,775 yen and will be released in January of next year. The really good news though is that this will be a regular release and not a webshop exclusive. This toy won’t come with the Hyper Mega Bazooka Launcher though but apart from that omission it’s weapon compliment is pretty thorough.

In a recent Q&A with Bandai Namco Europe’s Anthony Grabit it was said that Armored Core Verdict Day “is not region locked”. Whether this is specific to the European release or, far more importantly, the international servers is by no means clear at this point. However, what with the game’s release imminent (today in the US, the 26th in Japan and 27th in Europe) we’ll know for sure soon enough. Our review will be of the Japanese versions if anyone is wondering. You can still pre-order the game here (PS3) and here (360).

What with this year’s Tokyo Game Show over, there are all manner of new things flying around. Some of these are to do with the upcoming Super Robot Wars OG Infinite Battle brawler out on November 28th. The new promo (shown below) pretty much covers the same ground as the first and emphasises the fact that the game aint a looker. We’re also somewhat concerned at how the various mecha are moving, as our mecha sense is tingling somewhat. To be more specific, the game looks damn unwieldy but until we get to play it we won’t know for sure. Again, the fact that this is an in-house job does worry us. Especially as Banpresto’s track record with mecha action games is sketchy at best. In addition, there’s also a new Dark Prison promo too. Don’t forget that you can pre-order the game here.

News: Virtual On Memorial Event Breakdown

Following on from the Virtual On Memorial Event we mentioned, 4Gamer have a nice breakdown piece. Despite the appearance of peeps from Volks and Haseagawa regarding all manner of kits, the interesting stuff came from Mori Yasuhiro (a designer at Sega who worked on both Marz and Oratan, he’s also the guy wearing the Tangram t-shirt in the above picture). Notably that there may be a new Virtual On game surfacing during the series’ 20th Anniversary in 2015. Now, this isn’t the first time this has been said but we do know that since Force there have been multiple attempts at making a new Virtual On game (with Border Break being the unwitting results of one of those attempts). Anyway, we hope that whatever is planned finally sees the light of day (preferably if it’s an arcade game too obviously).

News: Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost Limited Edition Arcade Stick Announced

Looks like we’ll be getting another limited edition arcade stick courtesy of Hori. Scheduled for release in 2014, the Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost arcade stick will go for 16,800 yen and will be released in limited quantities. Based on the NOIR arcade cabinet layout and using the same model as the previous Gundam Extreme Versus stick and Soul Calibur V arcade stick, it is built to look like it was pulled off of the Full Boost arcade housing. It will use the Sanwa JLF 8 way stick and Sanwa OBSF-30 for the face buttons, bringing arcade quality parts to your PS3. The button layout on the stick replicates the arcade version exactly, but you can fill in the extra button slots if you plan on using it for other games. There’s also a very cool clear button cover with the VSTG logo over the start button that’s super slick. It also comes with button stickers to indicate what actions each button represents, similar to the arcade version. As an owner of the Soul Calibur V arcade stick, this is a very quality product if you can get your hands on it.
