Out of the ashes from the team that brought you the Warhawk reboot, comes an all new game in the same vein. Entitled Starhawk, the game is fundamentally similar to Warhawk but with two major changes; an RTS element and a bipedal mecha mode for the jets. Considering that the hover mode in Warhawk was a semi-mecha themed mode anyway, this sounds like a good fit. Unfortunately, the mecha are entirely groundbased and look a tad clunky (no boosting basically). We’re obviously hoping it won’t turn out like the dreadful Bayformer cash ins but we wish the team luck.

I loved Warhawk, and I know it’ll be the same with this game. Looks like online battles are going to be epic. But I hope online matches continue to have a large number of players inside as it was on Warhawk (as I remember, the max number of players was 32).
The mecha aspect shouldn’t be touted I think. Having played a lot of Planetside, in games like this, team work among all players is what’s going to be most important. The mecha mode of the jet will probably be a passing concern.
Agreed. While I love me some boosting… I have to say that for the context of this game it would seem rather broken. The transforming into a jet is mostly for aerial combat and for quickly moving armor from one area of the battle to another. While technically such a sophisticated weapon should rule the battlefield, it is more likely to be more akin to Halo’s warthog with flying capabilities instead of say… a Valkyrie.
Well, not really. Warhawk had a hover mode, which afforded greater maneuverability on the part of the player. This new mecha mode is a functional step back from that it seems (from the videos we’ve seen at least).
Ahhh. My apologies. I am not as familiar with the new Warhawk. I can see what you mean in that case.
