Great news non-Japanese speaking Gundam fans! Bandai Namco have announced they will be localizing Gundam Breaker 3 with English subtitles for Asia in June this year! This has become a growing trend lately with Bandai Namco bringing English localized games to the territory with Gundam Extreme VS Force being one of them. Interestingly, this might open the floodgates for future Gundam games to come to the West as well since the previously mentioned title has been confirmed to do so late last year. Needless to say, those who were on the fence about getting a Japanese copy Gundam Breaker 3 and dealing with the language barrier won’t have to wait too long for their preferred version. But for those who were planning on playing the game on their PS4 with their Vita, it’s been recently revealed that remote play has been disabled. As always, we’ll let you know more as new info drops!
I pre-ordered the Japanese version and set-up Japanese PSN and got PS+. If I were to cancel my pre-order of the Japanese version and order the English subbed version would it still work on the Japanese PSN and would I be able to do all the online stuff and get any DLC that comes out?
Was thinking the same thing. If its anything like other regions then the subtitled version would be considered to be an entirely different SKU and therefore wouldn’t be compatible with anything from the JPN store.
It’s still great news but I don’t want to have to sign up for a 4th PSN account just so I can grab DLC for a couple of games.
Generally speaking, no, it wouldn’t work for you. DLC just doesn’t show up if your PSN is the wrong region. I don’t know if you can get updates either…it might depend on if its Vita/PS3/PS4, I can’t remember.
I bought both the previous games, both versions of the first one, and “maintained region” through the whole thing. Cross play, continued my save into the second game, got the preorder bonus, all that. And you know what? It was all worthless. Totally worthless. In fact, I still can’t quite understand why these games are obviously popular enough to get sequels but not popular enough to ever have a shred of DLC worth getting. The shops just sit there almost completely empty and only stocking garbage versions of things you can get elsewhere in the first hour of the game for free.
So, if you can still get the updates and play online I wouldn’t worry about the stuff in the shop unless they actually make worthwhile DLC. Its impossible to say if that’ll be the case though since you don’t know if they’ve abandoned DLC yet again until you see Gundam Breaker 4 being announced.
You can get the updates and play online
Vita: DLC on PSN JP is incompatible with Asia
PS4: You can play online with Plus JP on all accounts (Asia, US, EU, etc), only one Plus subscription is required
– You can make a Asia account, buy the DLC and play with any PSN (JP, US, EU) on the same console.
I don´t know if works with “virtual money”, the DLC that you can use only one time. But units, levels, etc, are shared between IDs
