News: Armored Core V Screenshots Update

Over at 4Gamer they have a bunch of new screenshots for Armored Core V, as well as a thorough breakdown of all the information featured in Famitsu last week. The interesting points are that back weapons are partially gone now and replaced by hangar units, which are stored across the shoulders but used by both arms. In addition the player now has to equip a recon unit to scan the area (no doubt feeding into the new scan mode we saw). In addition, ammo types are broken down down into kinetic, chemical and thermal now (rather than just solid and energy, as in the past). Finally, the update covers the new boost types. With the wall jumping Boost Drive being our favourite at the moment. Famitsu will also be having new live stream events on the 19th and 26th May. So keep your eyes peeled for that.

Update: 4Gamer also has a new piece on some additional parts, one of which being a rather uber looking sniper rifle.

The 189th of May? Is May a planet and that a Stormtrooper Regiment? /snark

Anyway, good on the new info and screens. Liking most everything I’ve seen so far.

So back weapons have been replaced.Called it.

Not really, they’re still stored across the back and pretty much do the same thing as back weapons of old (as in pack more of a punch compared to the arm weapons). It’s just that you only have one now and they’re a bit more special case. I think the big difference now is that shoulder weapons are definitely offensive in nature now.

Exactly.They have been replaced.

Well, no. Functionally they’re pretty much identical. Are you calling it on a naming convention only then? Not sure that really means much tbh.

Not really,You can’t mix them like back weapons (you can double up though) nor have we seen anything more powerful than a missile launcher.Due to the new hanger system that lets you switch between full sized weapons at will it seems like Shoulder Units were designed as a balance measure to augment damage output by slight degrees unlike back weapons.

If they are showing game play now hopefully it will be on the floor at E3! Looking forward to some firsthand accounts of how it plays.
Looks to me like you get a single active ‘back weapon’ -but I’m just trolling you two 😛

It sounds like the streams will consist of mainly of QAs.I hope I’m wrong.

I was wrong.Gameplay is involved.

You had dual back weapons in older Armored Core games though. Not sure how this is (functionally) different.
