There are two new promos for the soon to be released Gunhound EX over at 4Gamer. This being the PSP update to the PC sidescrolling shooter co-developed by G.Rev and Dracue. Whilst the game was meant to be released late last year, it was delayed to fix a critical bug. The new promos show more gameplay as well that of the soundtrack, the latter being noteworthy as it was penned by the lovely (and very talented) Kinuyo Yamashita. You can pre-order the standard (boxed) game here, though this will also be made available on Japanese PSN when it’s released too.

Looks like the recent 1.02 patch for the PS3 version of Gundam Extreme Versus has a bit more to offer. GN-007+GNR-101A Archer Arios from Gundam 00 and GAT-X105E+AQM/E-X09S Strike Noir Gundam from Gundam Seed Stargazer have been announced as the fifth DLC pack to be released on January 10th for 500 yen each. Archer Arios will be a 1000 cost unit while Strike Noir will be a 2500 cost unit, just like its Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost iteration. Archer Arios was recently revealed as a new suit to come to Full Boost a few weeks ago, so it is nice to see it coming to the home version. It was a little disappointing to see Arios not be as agile as its anime iteration, but it still looks well rounded with Archer never far behind. As for Strike Noir, players have been clamoring for it to be DLC since it Full Boost was first announced. It will definitely be a welcome addition to the already diverse cast of mobile suits with its acrobatic manoeuvres.
Also, if you purchase these suits before February 10th, you’ll get a pack of energy capsules for Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation. Make sure to check out the DLC video announcement below!

Whilst it’s been a tad quiet on the Battle Robot Damashii front, we now have a new trailer (shown below). Almost entirely gameplay footage it looks like a cross between From Software’s Another Century’s Episode Portable and a slew of Artdink’s Macross and Gundam games. As we suspected, the mecha haven’t retained their anime scales but have instead been treated in the same way the Robot Damashii toys have. In addition, the footage primarily shows a lot of quite rigid melee combat. To be fair this is more likely down to the editing, as the Gundam Extreme Versus trailers offer suffer the same fate (maybe Bamco should get another trailer guy?). Finally, the trailer hints that a lot more shows will be included along with the ones that have already been announced. Let the guessing games begin!

For those that saw the reveal of the Hatsune Mike Fei-Yen in the upcoming Super Robot Wars UX announcement and thought this was done without the consent of the team behind Virtual On, then you were very wrong. So wrong in fact that Juro Watari, the father of Virtual On, openly welcomed Miku and even wrote her lines to be used in UX (apparently she’ll sing too). Personally, we think this is a resoundingly good thing and half hope that the next proper Virtual On game gets the Miku treatment too. In addition, there’s a new advert for the game (shown below). Don’t forget the game will be released on March 14th and you can pre-order it here, though you’ll need a Japanese 3DS to play the game as all 3DS games are region locked (thanks a fucking bunch Nintendo for that one!).

Albeit brief, we now have a new advert for Macross 30 (shown below). It only shows a few more seconds of gameplay and emphasises how smooth the game appears to be running. Not to mention that we’ll obviously be getting a lot of new animated footage for the game. Hopefully that will mean some kind of high fiving from Basara and the other classic Macross characters. Don’t forget you can pre-order it here

We now finally have a decent promo for the upcoming Macross 30 (shown below). It shows a fair bit of gameplay and it’s clear that this game is slower paced than the PSP counterparts, almost languid. That said it does look fine and the framerate is pretty high and consistent throughout. So at least that won’t make controlling your variable fighter too arduous. Bar that we (briefly) also get to see the new YF-30 in fighter mode, so that’s something at least. The game is still set for its February 28th release year and you can pre-order it here.

The brand new Super Robot Wars UX has been announced for release next year on the 3DS. This will be the first Super Robot Wars game to grace the system and it has a pretty interesting roster of series in it. From the return of Dunbine, which we’re very happy about, we’ll also be getting Wings of Rean too. The last time this series was featured was during the last two Another Century’s Episode games on the PS2. We love the anime dearly, as well as the novels that semi-birthed it. So to have these wonderful and unique aura battlers in a new game is just great. Following on from that we also have Mazinkaiser SKL and Heroman included, along with the Hatsune Miku Fei-Yen. The latter being interesting as she’s not really part of the Virtual On canon (yet). There is also an official PV (shown below) that’s been released. On the latter, it’s clear that the game is still using the engine, sprites and many of the animations from the GBA and DS era. This is a big shame, as the recent PSP games looked amazing and the 3DS is a more powerful system (so would be able to handle the same thing with relative ease). That aside, the game will also feature DLC, full voice over audio and receive its own special limited edition 3DS LL. The game will be released March 14th next year and cost 7,140 yen.

The much anticipated open beta for Hawken starts today. We’ve been playing the game since the closed test phases and it’s truly an impressive and fun mecha game. So there’s no excuse whatsoever to not check this game out, especially if you regard yourself as a discerning mecha gaming connoisseur. Make sure you have an account set-up for when the game goes live to the public later today. The new trailer below is a fair representation of what the game looks like when running, minus the dubstep and slow motion stuff obviously.

The Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost website has been updated with a plethora of new mobile suits. Aside from the RX-105 Xi Gundam and the XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero, whom were previously announced, a total of five new units have been officially added to the foray. They are the YAMS-132 Rozen Zulu from Gundam Unicorn, MBF-P01-Re Astray Gold Frame Amatsu from Gundam Seed Astray, Mashymre Cello’s AMX-011S Zaku III Custom from Gundam ZZ, GN-007 Arios Gundam from Gundam 00 and the GP-03 Gundam Dendrobium (pictured above) from 0083 Stardust Memory, which was last playable in Gundam VS Gundam Next Plus.
This coincides with the recent Full Boost mobile site leak, where even more new mobile suits are shown, including some previously mentioned. Those units are the following: XM-X3 Crossbone Gundam X-3, ZGMF-X88S Gaia Gundam, G-Armor, AMX-109 Corin Nander’s Kapool, AGX-04 Gerbera Tetra, RGM-79FC Striker Custom, and Gundam AGE-1. While not visible, the MSA-0011 S Gundam also appears to be in as well as text mentions the ALICE system that resides in the S Gundam that was featured in Gundam Sentinel.
There’s also a little surprise for Gundam Extreme Versus players out there on the PS3. “The Best” re-release will be accompanied by new DLC units on December 13th. The two units are the Xi Gundam and GP-03 Gundam Dendrobium and they will go for 500 yen each. There is also a special six pack DLC for 2,000 yen that includes the previous 6 DLC units. Hopefully Namco Bandai will continue to fill in the long void between now and the probable console release of Full Boost with more unit DLC for console players. As a huge Gundam Extreme Versus player myself, I am definitely looking forward to jumping online with these two new mobile suits.
Check the video below to see the new PS3 additions in action. If you look closely, the footage for Xi Gundam is the same as the recent Full Boost character reveal as well.
What with the release of 2nd Super Robot Wars OG next week, 4Gamer have a great piece featuring some of the more classic units in the game. From the mecha seen in the Masoukishin games to the mighty Raioh from Alpha 3 (shown above). Just seeing Raioh again in-game brings back so many fond memories. In addition, there’s a new 14 minute digest movie showing the game in action (linked below). More of a straight playthrough than a swanky trailer, you get to see the game as it is. Don’t forget you can still pre-order your copy here.
