Over at this year’s JAEPO, Gundam Extreme Versus Maxi Boost is on full show. After the numerous recent location tests, it seems we’ll be getting the game in arcades here pretty soon. In addition to this, Bandai Namco released the game’s new CG opening movie. Whilst it looks pretty great, gotta love all the Xi and Penelope action, we do question the musical veracity of having auto-tuned metal in the background. For all of Linkin Park’s faults, they do write better music. That aside, it’s also pretty clear that due to Maxi Boost’s lack of newer units that the PS3 port of Full Boost’s DLC is turning into “Attack of the Clones”. Hopefully this will rectify itself once Maxi Boost starts getting more new units. In any case, the new opening movie is shown below. Brace thy ears!

We now have a promo for the recently announced Gundam Gaiden Missing Link. It shows a fair bit of gameplay and whilst it looks serviceable, the camera and mobile suit movement looks a bit off. As expected, there’s a pretty badass Efreet shown as well as a caped mystery mobile suit (that will be designed just for the game). By the way the promo is structured it looks like this will be a narrative focused, as in singleplayer campaign, type of game. However, considering that Namco Bandai are on a bit of a freemium spree at the moment we’re not sure how this game will turn out. No word as to a release date or price as yet either. Overall, we’re somewhat curious but a little wary of how this might turn out.

 

Namco Bandai have released the fourth and final video showcasing the last 20 mobile suits included in Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost for the PS3. The video shows off units from the following series: G Gundam, Gundam Wing, Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, Gundam X, Turn A Gundam, and Gundam EXA. With nearly 100 mobile suits and more to come via DLC, you’d be hard pressed to find a suit you wouldn’t want to mess around with. Who will you be picking? Also, the Premium G Sound edition is now available for pre-order on the Japanese PSN, which will allow you to pre-load the game on the 28th (for the release on the 30th) on top of giving you the new HUD bonus. Namco Bandai have released the third video showcasing the next 20 mobile suits included in Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost for the PS3. The video shows off units from the following series: Char’s Counterattack, Beltorchika’s Children, Hathaway’s Flash, F91, Crossbone Gundam, and Victory Gundam. Namco Bandai have released the second video showcasing mobile suits 30 through 58 of the 98 in total included in Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost for the pS3. On top of showing the Lacus controlled Infinite Justice, the video shows off units from the following series: Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Astray, Gundam Seed Destiny, Gundam Seed C.E. 73 Stargazer, Gundam 00 and Gundam 00 Awakening of the Trailblazer. Namco Bandai have released a new video showcasing 29 of the 98 mobile suits included in Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost for the Playstation 3. Aside from showing more footage of Ex-S Gundam and Johnny Ridden’s Zaku II High Mobility, the video shows off units from the following series: Mobile Suit Gundam, 0080 War in the Pocket, The 08th MS Team, MS Igloo, The Blue Destiny, Stardust Memory, Zeta Gundam, and ZZ Gundam. Although we pretty much have an idea of what will be shown in the following videos, it’s good to a confirmed number of mobile suits available for the game day one. First off, apologies for the lack of updates. We’ve finally moved into our new place in Tokyo and only gained net access yesterday. That aside, Bandai have announced what looks to be the final installment in the Super Robot Wars Z series of games. Released this April, the game will be available on both PS3 and Vita. The game is also using the new updated engine as seen in the last OG and Masou Kishin games. Considering that the last major console release in the “proper” series was back in 2008, this will mark the first and only installment on current gen hardware (XO doesn’t count as that was a port of GC anyway, plus it was in rather manky 3D). Thankfully, Bandai released a nice long promo (shown below) and whilst the line-up is rather decent, the lack of Eureka Seven and Final Dancouga is slightly saddening. There’s even a nice little video that chronicles the Z series of games too. The really lovely news though is that the original 1991 GameBoy game that started the whole Super Robot Wars phenomenon is getting an HD remake. For those that buy the new PS3 and Vita game at launch, they will receive a free download code for the remake. Alternatively, if you miss that then the remake will be released on April 24th via PSN for 1,204 yen. The remake, like the new game, will also be available on both PS3 and Vita.

In case you missed it, Bandai uploaded a helpful tutorial video (shown below) on how to handle and transform your Isamu Dyson YF-29 DX Chogokin from Macross 30 (which was also released today). Naturally, the transformation is pretty much identical to that of the already released YF-29 Durandal DX Chogokin but it’s nice to know that Bandai care. Whilst we passed on this in terms of the pre-order we may pick it up at some point, now that we’re located in Tokyo and amazing toy shops are in ample supply. Especially as this does in fact look like a rather lovely toy indeed.

Following on from the reveal of the MSA-0011[Ext] Ex-S Gundam from Gundam Sentinel as the special DLC for Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost on PS3, we now have a nice little promo video of the unit in action (shown below). This version also features the full G-Cruiser too, so it looks quite bulky. What is especially surprising is that the mobile suit’s pilot, that of Ryou Roots, has no character art or voice actor in game. Both of which look and sound a little odd compared to the other units. That aside the INCOM attacks, where beam rifle shots are reflected onto your opponent, look suitably pimptastic. Don’t forget you can still pre-order the game here.

For those that have hankered for more in the way Gungriffon gaming, then look no further. We now have a very competent homemade PC version called the HIGH-MACS Simulator that’s very much in-line with the original Saturn games. Both the controls and handling are also refreshingly fluid too. What with the series’ creator passing away a few years ago it’s nice to see the fans keeping Gungriffon alive.
