Namco Bandai is bolstering the Gundam Extreme Versus Maxi Boost roster with another one of Lockon Stratos’ suits, Gundam Zabanya. Coming sometime in early April, Zabanya will be a 3000 cost unit for those looking for a high powered ranged suit to master. True to its nature as seen in the Gundam 00 movie “A wakening of the Trailblazer,” Zabanya is all lasers galore with its GN Pistol Bits firing all over the place and filling up the screen. It’ll be interesting to see how well the unit plays in the upcoming weeks in real match scenarios, but at the very least it looks like it will be fun annoying opponents with a constant beam barrage. Check out the video below!

As today is the day when stupid gags run amok Bandai haven’t missed trick and done a new promo for Super Robot Wars Z 3, this time including the soon to be released Hello Kitty chogokin. Obviously, our furry friend won’t be joining the playable roster but we actually wouldn’t mind at all if she did. In any case, the game is still on track for its April 10th release and you can pre-order it accordingly here (PS3) and here (Vita).

Following on from the Rise from the Ashes promo, we now have one for the Zeonic Front remake. Unlike the previous entries, Zeonic Front is functionally very different and is far more about strategy. Without this planning element that was integral to the original game, we’re not sure how the remake will operate without it (as narratively it was pretty weak). That aside it’s clear that the RX-78-6 Mudrock Gundam will be present, which is nice at least. The game is still on course for its May 29th release and you can pre-order the standard edition here.

Following on from the Blue Destiny promo, we now have one for the Rise from the Ashes remake. Again this is using the new game engine and is not a functional remake of the original game. In addition the RGM-79SP GM Sniper II (shown above) is equipped with the wrong beam rifle (as the one in the original game was the P.B.R-0079/A12 S-000011 beam rifle, rather than the long range rifle shown above, though this has been a staple load-out in other games). The game is still on course for its May 29th release and you can pre-order the standard edition here.

If you remember those nice people at Dracue, of Gunhound fame, well they are taking the next step by releasing a port of the classic Assault Suit Leynos on PS4. Announced at this year’s BitSummit, this new port will pool on the talents of Toru Yoshida (of VOTOMS fame) and Hyakutaro Tsukumo, who also co-composed the score for Gunhound. This doesn’t look like a simple update to Leynos either, but a full blown functional reboot in the style of Gunhound. Whilst we’re not too happy about that, Gunhound was good and Dracue gets the material they’re riffing off. We can only hope they’ll move onto Valken at some point too. The trailer for the new port is shown below.

For those that have been a reader on this site for a while, you’ll remember we talked about Gigantic Army a good while back. Well, due to Nyu Media we now have the game on Steam. Thankfully the developer Astro Port are still involved and it seems to be more of a new means of distributing the game rather than anything else untoward. In any case the game only costs $5.99, so what the hell are you waiting for? Buy this now it’s just fucking great!

Namco Bandai have released a new promotional video for the upcoming Gundam Extreme Versus Maxi Boost arcade game, due out on March 6, 2014 in Japan. The video showcases several new additions to the Maxi Boost roster such as Penelope Gundam, Hyperion Gundam, Gundam AGE-1, AGE-2, Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai, and Brave Commander Type. Other neat changes include God Gundam properly riding Fuunsaiki akin to the Mobile Armor modes of other units in the game. They also show off the EX Overdrive gameplay system which activates after certain conditions are met. The F-Drive boosts your melee prowess allowing you to guard break opponents and the S-Drive allows you to practically continuously fire off all your ranged attacks without having to worry about boost dash canceling. Make sure you check out the video below and see all the aforementioned changes to the latest sequel in the Extreme Versus series!

We now have the second extended promo for Super Robot Wars Z 3, this being the one that will be shown in shops across Japan to curious punters. It shows pretty much all the new aspects of the game, from the team system as well as Maximum Break. There’s also a lot of battle animation eye candy, with the the RX-93 Nu Gundam looking especially lovely. We’re still bummed by the lack of Final Dancouga but there’s a lot of other cool series afoot here, so that should be good at least. The game is still on track for its April 10th release and you can pre-order it accordingly here (PS3) and here (Vita).

So we now have the first promo for the Gundam Side Stories collection and it’s featuring Blue Destiny. There’s quite a lot of gameplay footage in this trailer and it’s clear now that these “HD remakes” are basically classic missions from the older games in the new Missing Link engine. This is a pretty big deal, as what made games like Blue Destiny so special was their claustrophobic first person view (something that seems to be entirely absent now). We’re actually pretty disappointed now about this new collection, as it seems very clear that Bandai are just going down the cheap and nasty route for this. Oh well, we’ll be picking this up in May but our reaction has now dropped to below “meh”. The other weird thing is that this version of Blue Destiny looks like it’s referencing the manga narrative rather than the original games (as the trailer talks about about letting down Marion after the Blue Destiny GM’s head is blown off by a Dom). This is because the manga ends on Earth between the Blue Destiny GM and Efreet Kai, whereas the games finish in space between two EXAM system Gundams. Anyway, this collection seems to be comprised of a whole ball of weird. The trailer is shown below.

For those of you waiting for any new information regarding the state of the upcoming Monolith Soft RPG “X” for the Wii U, the recent Nintendo Direct has shown two minutes of brand new gameplay footage. Using an upgraded version of the battle system from Xenoblade, the video shows the playable characters battling monkey-esque creatures on foot and in their mecha, called Dolls. Having logged in nearly 100 hours in Xenoblade, I personally cannot wait to get my hands on this game. The enemy AI looks to be lacking in this vid, but I’m sure that will be remedied as they get further along with the game. Be sure to check out the video below!
