Another week, another wave of Gundam Side Stories DLC, this time it being the RX-81 LA G-Line Light Armor. A variant of the RX-81 G-Line series, it made it’s first appearance in Kunio Okawara’s Missing Mobile Suit Variations. The Light Armor RX-81 saw a redesign by Katoki Hajime for the 2009 PS3 title Mobile Suit Gundam Battlefield Record U.C. 0081. In U.C. 0081, the RX-81LA G-Line Light Armor was assigned to the Earth Federation Forces’s Phantom Sweep Team as a means to combat the Invincible Knights Zeon remnants. Now available on the Japanese PlayStation Store, the G-Line LA can be yours for the low low price of 300 yen. This mobile suit is playable in both ground and space based missions. It should be noted, however, that this week’s update does not include any new VR Missions, but we know that they’re coming based on the information provided in the Famitsu Visual Complete Guide.

What with the release of Masoukishin F not far off, Bandai are stepping up with a new promo video. Despite the omnipresent boob jiggle with the various female cut-ins, the game’s animations are looking pretty damn good. Bar that, the boxset is also pimped a bit too but apart from the soundtracks there’s not much else to really recommend it. In any case, we’ll be picking this up come August 28th and you can pre-order it here.

So it looks like we’ll be getting a few Virtual On Force VR’s and a Virtual On themed area added to the recently released Phantasy Star Online 2. It’s worth clarifying that these are just costumes for player characters and aren’t actually full blown VRs in the traditional sense. The Virtual On lobby will be opened at the end of July until the middle of August. A promo video of the new costumes are shown below, they kick in around the 2:31 mark.

Following on the heels of our report detailing future DLC courtesy of the Famitsu Visual Complete Guide, new downloadable content has been released today via the Japanese Playstation Store for Gundam Side Stories. Although it appears to be another reskin, the MG-14 Fs Gelgoog M Commander from Mobile Suit Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory is now available for 400 yen. In addition, VR Mission 105 is also available for free. Mission 105 is a ground based scenario taking place in the ruins of a war-ravaged city. If Bandai Namco continues this trend, we should see VR Missions 106-108 along with the Zudah, G-Line Armor, Gundam Alex, Kampfer, GM Custom and GM Cannon II in the near future.

Following on from the somewhat improved set of DLC for Gundam Side Stories, there’s now a new mobile suit out. Specifically that of the mighty RX-79[G]Ez-8 Gundam Ez8 from the 08th MS Team OVA. At 300 yen it’s a bit cheaper than usual but this is likely because it shares animation and weapons from the already existing Ground Gundam types in the game. That said, the model is all new and that is something at least.

Following on from the last batch of disappointing DLC for Gundam Side Stories, we now have a new set released. Featuring the YMS-15 Gyan this is at least a new mobile suit rather than just cheap re-skin. Focused around close combat, the Gyan was a formidable mobile suit in the original Gundam series. It’s also more of a classic design for the fans and so that is at least something to be happy about. There’s also a new VR Mission available now too and it looks like a decent challenge as well.

Dreadnought Gundam is on its way to the Gundam Extreme Versus Maxi Boost roster in July. Coming from the manga Gundam SEED X-Astray, the Dreadnought Gundam is piloted by Prayer Reverie, the rival of Canard Pars and the Hyperion Gundam. In game, it is another addition to the 2000 cost units. With its Dragoon attacks and Red Frame assists, it definitely looks to be a rather interesting suit to use within that cost bracket. I do wonder when Shining will eventually enter the fray as well, but hopefully we’ll be seeing it soon and many other fan favorites as well. Make sure to check out the gameplay trailer below to see Dreadnought Gundam in action!

Following on from the Gundam Unicorn themed DLC for Gundam Side Stories we now have the second set released today on PSN. This includes some new VR missions as well as two new mobile suits; the Pezun Dowadge and the Efreet Nacht. We’re sorta meh on the former but the later is cool as we enjoyed Gundam Senki 0081. This could also mean we might get some 7th Gundam DLC too, which would be pretty nice. Talking of VR missions, the game is actually better without all the story stuff getting in the way. Much like the older PS2 Gundam games, the core gameplay on its own holds up much better than when it has to tell a story. This was true in Journey to Jaburo with the Tactics Battle setup, that later basically made up the backbone of the far better Lost War Chronicles. Without all the manky cutscenes to ruin the ambiance, Side Stories is actually really solid.

Last seen this year at an earlier Nintendo Direct and previously known as X, Nintendo has finally given us more information on the upcoming RPG Xenoblade Chronicles X for the Wii U. Delayed until 2015, Nintendo showed off a CG trailer during its E3 Digital Event on Tuesday, June 10, showcasing the game’s story origins with a gigantic war between two alien factions above Earth. Even though they attempt to thwart the alien attacks with their mechanized dolls, the humans eventually escape from Earth facing extinction and eventually crash land on a planet in another galaxy. The story feels very reminiscent of the Phantasy Star series and that is by no means a negative, providing the foundations of what players will be engrossing themselves with when they play. Later on in the day, Nintendo provided a 45 minute presentation of the game during its Treehouse Live event, showcasing gameplay systems that appear to be an evolution of the Xenoblade on the Wii. Granted we did not see any doll gameplay, we can only hope they provide more mecha goodness before E3 ends. Until then, check out the CG trailer and Treehouse Live gameplay presentation below!

This month Bandai Namco will be adding three more units into the Gundam Extreme Versus Maxi Boost roster. They are Blitz Gundam, Johnny Ridden’s Zaku II, and Lacus’ Infinite Justice. While we’ve seen Johnny Ridden’s Zaku II and Lacus’ Infinite Justice as Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost DLC, Blitz Gundam has not seen playable action in the Versus series since Gundam Seed Destiny Plus. Armed with the Mirage Colloid cloaking effect that appears to act like Deathscythe Hell Custom’s stealth system and an Aegis assist, it looks to be a rather interesting addition to the already stacked roster as a melee oriented 2000 cost unit. So be sure to check out the announcement vids for the characters below!
