Kotobukiya have announced three new sets of Armored Core weapon kits, the first of which will be the HLR01-CANOPUS (which you can pre-order here). This weapon was sort of the spiritual successor to the Karasawa in both AC4 and ACFA. In addition to the Canopus, the CG-R500 and EB-R500 as well as the beefy OIGAMI.

In addition, to give the toy some context, we’ve also linked some anime and gameplay footage of it in action in Super Robot Wars K at the end of the review.

Whilst the amazing Five Star Stories has never really had a game or been featured in any over the years, we still adore Mamoru Nagano’s manga based magnum opus. Subsequently we’ve salivated over the various garage kits of the series’ mortar headds for many many years. Though the somewhat stratospheric price point has always deterred us, plus the fact that building them would be akin to doing plastic surgery on your mother’s face. So when Volks announced their IMS line of injection plastic kits with polycap joints, it meant that mere mortals could afford a real mortar headd kit and not have to deal with the fickle mistress that is resin. Admittedly Wave have made injection plastic mortar headd kits over the years too but Volks has always been the daddy when it came to this series. With all that out of the way, Volks have announced a new kit in their IMS line; that of the utterly exquisite LED Mirage. This new kit will be at 1/100 scale and feature the unit’s terrifying flame launcher as well. Both the price and release date are not yet known but whatever or whenever it may be we simply want Volks to take our money.

As we’ve mentioned a few times already, the lovely Cloud Breaker 01 from the Xbox game Murakumo is now set for release in January of next year. Whilst the game was a bit bobbins, the mecha designed by Takayuki Yanase were beautiful to behold. It seems that PLUM have done an exemplary job too. You can also pre-order the kit here.

What with this year’s Tokyo Game Show in full swing, Konami aren’t missing a trick and have surreptitiously displayed some new Revoltech figures from Anubis (as captured over at Gigazine). Namely an updated Jehuty, with a new colour scheme and additional parts, but also of the game’s namesake; the beastly Anubis itself (shown above). As we often say, we’re not fond of the games but we adore the design-work. The new Jehuty will be released this November for 2,980 yen and Anubis will be out in December for 3,480 yen. Courtesy of our good friends at HobbyLink Japan, we’ve been sent the Metal Composite Gundam The Origin toy from the manga Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. The latter being a re-telling of the classic TV series and first three movies, as penned by the venerable Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. The titular Gundam has numerous subtle differences compared to the original and this toy undertakes those in suitably painstaking detail.

Over at the Kotobukiya site, the next Armored Core kit on the way finally got a listing. The kit being that of the first Nineball, not to be confused with the version from Ninebreaker or even the epic Nineball Seraph (the latter you can still nab here). We still have fond memories of taking on Nineball in the first Armored Core game, and this kit looks amazing. It will be released in December this year for 5,670 yen, you can pre-order it here.

In a move that’s not overly surprising, the next in the Composite Ver Ka line will be the Hatsune Miku Fei-Yen we mentioned a while back. This toy line has already graced at least one virtuaroid from the series, that of the mighty Temjin (which we can fully recommend). In many ways, Miku is a good fit for Virtual On and we half expect that one day she’ll surface as a playable character in the series. The toy will be released on the 11th November for 5,040 yen and you can pre-order it here.

Courtesy of our good friends at HobbyLink Japan, we’ve been sent the 1/60 Destroid Tomahawk (Weathered Version) toy from Super Dimension Fortress Macross that’s on sale. This particular design is a unique one though as it has had some quite massive ramifications on mecha gaming over the years.
