Namco Bandai has released two new videos of Shin Gundam Musou gameplay including the Strike Gundam and Big Zam. The first video shows gameplay from the game’s Official Mode, which replicates stories from the titular Gundam series whereas the second video is from the Ultimate Mode that brings the series crossovers, similar to the more recent Gundam Musou games. One niggling aspect of the game are the rather poor character cut-ins when initiating a musou attack. It feels like it adds to the overall drop in visual quality in comparison to Gundam Musou 3. Anyway, check out the two videos below and judge for yourself.

Recently announced at a private trade event, Namco Bandai has announced the sequel to Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost called Gundam Extreme Versus Maxi Boost. The title will hit Japanese arcades in March 2014 and will more than likely run on the System 478 board based off of the PS4 architecture. Â Game mechanics are currently unknown at the moment other than the addition of the F and S Drives (similar to how Assault and Burst works in Full Boost perhaps?), but since Maxi Boost is still carrying the Extreme Versus moniker, we can only assume that the gameplay will iterate on top of the current Full Boost mechanics. The following new suits in a total of 14 will also arrive in the sequel: AGE-01, AGE-02, Avalanche Exia, Char’s Zaku, Perfect Strike, Legend Gundam, Penelope Gundam, Brave Commander Graham Acre Type, and Elpeo Puru’s Quebeley Mk II. We will continue to update as more information comes out.

On October 22nd, Gundam Epyon will join the current roster of Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost. Teased during the TGS 2013 show when promoting the upcoming PS3 version of the game, Gundam Epyon returns from its last appearance in Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus. Obviously boasting its melee attack style, its patented heat whip and mobile armor mode are all intact in this new iteration. This will be a nice addition to the current roster which can always use more melee mobile suits. Check out the teaser vid for Epyon below!

Looks like we’ll be finally getting the home version of Gundam Extreme Versus Full Boost for the PS3 in 2014. Not much information has come out quite yet, but there have been a few tidbits that have caught the eye. Aside from mentioning there will be 20 new units on the way (meaning more than likely on top of the Gundam Extreme Versus roster), it looks like Bandai Namco is putting a bit more effort into the game’s online functionality. There will be 12 player lobbies, more matchmaking options via setting the rank or win percentage, and online Arcade mode co-op. There will also be a Premium G Sound Edition that includes 30 more tracks not included in the arcade version, including 5 original tracks. I’m sure we’ll hear more information during the Tokyo Game Show next week and update you as soon as possible!
Update: Over at Famitsu they have a bunch of nice new screenshots regarding the announcement.

Shin Gundam Musou, the latest in the Gundam Musou series by Koei, has been recently announced for the PS3 and Vita in the recent issue of Famitsu. The game will be arriving to Japanese market on December 19th and will include the return of the Official Story modes for several Gundam series. These will include new additions from Gundam Seed, Seed Destiny, and Gundam U.C. (Unicorn). Not much has been released in regards to gameplay changes, but the graphical style has returned to a non-celshaded look, unlike Gundam Musou 3. It’s a strange decision as I really enjoyed 3’s aesthetics. There’s also 100+ playable mecha, including the RX-0 Unicorn Banshee. No word on whether or not the game will be imported to the western market, but if the previous games are anything to go by, it will eventually come down the line. Also, no 360 version has been announced as well.
