Anime News Network has reported that veteran producer and animator Hiroshi Kakoi died in the recent earthquake that has stricken Japan. A key animator on the original Macross TV series and later a producer on Macross II: Lovers Again, he is survived by his wife Kumiko. As with all the thousands that have died and gone missing in this terrible natural disaster, our thoughts are with them and the families they left behind.
Separately, for those that follow this site; I apologize for the lack of updates since the earthquake and tsunami last Friday in Japan. Whilst I don’t currently live in Japan, many of my friends and relatives do. Thankfully none of them have been harmed in this tragedy, but it’s been a pretty tumultuous week nonetheless.
The site’s normal service shall resume in the next few days and we appreciate your patience.
I’m glad to hear your friends and family are safe, although the losses are still quite saddening.
That’s such a shame. I haven’t really heard much news of specific deaths resulting from this tragedy until now… I suppose it was only a matter of time.
It’s good to hear that your relatives and friends are okay. Don’t worry about updates.
It’s sad to hear this. The earthquake really took its toll. I pray Mr. Kakoi is in a better place.
Don’t worry about retaking the site yet. First of all is family and friends and we’re all supporting you from here man.
damn.
I m with out words.
Looks like its not getting any better as News of the Missing people coming in.
No sweat about the updates.
Families are more important.
Cacophanus, take your time. With everything that is going on, and in the aftermath of such a horrific event, it’s going to take some time for things to get back to normal. We can wait.
And in memory of Mr. Kakoi, I suggest watching MACROSS and MACROSS II….it is sad that he is gone, but as Obi said, I hope he–and all the victims of this tragedy–are in a better place.
My thumb is up and directed at you in a manly manner as if we were anime characters on friendly terms.
Good luck.
